1. CONSTRUCTING THE VANITY TABLE

Cut a piece of solid-color fabric and a piece of flannel to the dimensions of the plywood plus 2”. Cover the plywood with the flannel then the decorative fabric right side up, folding the corners as you would package. Secure both layers on the back of the plywood with your staple gun.

Attach the leg brackets about 1-1/2” in from each corner on the back of the plywood. Screw the legs into the brackets.

2. CONSTRUCTING THE VANITY TABLE SKIRT:
Measure around the outer edges of the table-top and multiply by 2-1/2. Measure from the top edge of the table to the floor and add 3-1/2”. Cut the decorator fabric to these dimensions, piecing as needed, to create
one continuous width.

Turn under and press a 1” double-fold hem on the long bottom edge of the skirt.Topstitch in place.Try
using the optional Husqvarna Viking Edge Stitching Foot and the 25 adjustable needle positions on your
Husqvarna Viking sewing machine for accurate topstitching. The Edge Stitching Foot has a flange which rides along the fold of your hem for perfectly straight
stitching.

Clean-finish the top edge of the skirt with a 3- or 4-thread serger. Turn under 1-1/2” to the wrong side and press, topstitch in place. Attach the ruffler to your sewing machine and stitch 1” from the top edge of the skirt. NOTE:Test theamount of ruffling on a strip of the same fabric and adjust the gathers/pleats to the correct ratio.

Cut a length of Velcro™ brand Half and Half tape to the measurement of the outer edge of the table-top. Attach the adhesive-backed side to the edge of the table-top securing it in place with a few staples. Stitch the remaining piece of tape to the wrong side of the skirt over the ruffle, 1/4” from the top edge.Try the Husqvarna Viking Edge/Joining Foot for accurate sewing. This foot, too, features a flange for riding along the edges of fabric and hook and loop tape.

On the right side of the skirt, place the decorative trim over the ruffle and secure in place by machine or, if you would prefer not to see stitches, press in place using fusible web.

2. CONSTRUCTING THE VANITY STOOL:
Measure the diameter of the stool seat. Cut a circular piece of decorative fabric and a piece of flannel to this dimension plus 4”. Mark the center point of the fabric for the embroidery placement.

Secure the embroidery unit to your sewing machine, stabilize the fabric and embroider motif.

Place the embroidered fabric on a flat surface and embellish the motif with Swarorski® crystals, referring
to the L’orna Decorative Touch™ Wand instruction manual for specific directions.

The L’orna Decorative Touch Wand and Swarorski crystals are available at your local Husqvarna Viking retailer. To find your nearest retailer, visit the dealer locator at www.husqvarnaviking.com or call 800-358-0001.

Remove the legs from your stool. With right side down, place the fabric and then the flannel face down
on a flat surface. Place stool seat over fabric, centering the design on the seat.Wrap the fabric around
the seat and secure with staples. Reattach the legs.

Cut the fabric and construct the stool skirt in the same manner as the vanity table skirt.

Turn a mismatched chair into picture-perfect seating with a scalloped chair cover. Scallops look difficult but are easily trimmed to perfection with basic Mundial sewing scissors.

SUPPLIES:

  • Striped decorator fabric
  • Marking pen
  • Fabric marker
  • Pattern tracing paper
  • Mundial Sewing Scissors (Item# 837)

MAKING A CHAIR PATTERN:

  1. Place tracing paper on the chair seat and trace around the outermost edge of the seat. Be sure to mark the location where the back spindles meet the seat.
  2. Add a ½" seam allowance around the outside edge of the pattern tracing.

CUTTING DIRECTIONS:

  1. Measure around the front and sides of the seat. Cut the skirt and lining to this measurement by the desired length plus 1".
  2. Using the seat pattern, cut two seat pieces.
  3. Cut a bias strip of fabric, 2" wide by the outside measurement of the seat.

MAKING THE SKIRT:

  1. Pin the skirt and lining right sides together, and baste along the sides and bottom edges.
  2. Mark a scallop line along the bottom edge of the skirt just above the stitching line. It is a good idea to mark one scallop and then make a template, so that each scallop will be the same.
  3. Stitch along the marked line, and trim away the excess fabric and clip the curves. Turn the skirt right side out and press. Baste along the top edge of the skirt.
  4. Make cording by wrapping the bias strip around the cord and stitching close to the cord. Baste the cording along the edge of the right side of the chair seat.
  5. Pin the skirt pieces to the seat, right sides together.
  6. Layer the seat lining over the pinned skirt pieces, right sides together. Stitch the seat lining and seat, right sides together, leaving an opening for turning. Turn right side out and slipstitch the opening closed.
Tip: Use sewing scissors for clipping small areas like scallops or curves. These scissors are perfect for light to medium cutting tasks like trimming seams and clipping curves. Sewing scissors have one rounded tip blade and one pointed blade
